On 25 November 2020, Minister of Justice Maja Popović met with President of the Bailiffs Chamber Aleksandra Trešnjev. The two concurred that the cooperation between the Ministry and the Chamber had been productive, albeit with some room for improvement.

The meeting offered the opportunity for discussion about the effects of the Amendments to the Enforcement and Security Act which were adopted in 2019 with effect from 1 January 2020. On that note, the Justice Minister and the Bailiffs Chamber President singled out the e-Auction platform which enabled electronic public bidding and sale of movable and immovable property as a part of enforcement proceedings. The platform has been up and running since mid-September 2020.

Minister Popović stressed the importance of the enforcement system in Serbia in terms of its impact on the overall business environment. More specifically, the length of enforcement process is one of the criteria considered in determining Serbia’s ranking on the Doing Business list.
