On 30 December, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia Maja Popović presented the management of the University Children’s Hospital — Tiršova with gifts meant for the paediatric patients who would be spending the New Year in the hospital.

The gifts, which included toys and New Year surprise packages, were offered to children to help them cope better with hospitalisation during the holidays. The occasion was also an opportunity for the Minister to wish the children a speedy recovery and return home to their parents, brothers and sisters.

Hospital Director Siniša Dučić stated that the Hospital currently had over 120 paediatric patients, some of whom were a few weeks old. He thanked the Ministry of Justice for remembering the Hospital’s patients every year, regretting that the epidemiological situation prevented the Minister from personally handing out the gifts to children.

Minister Popović noted that it was the Directorate for the Administration of Seized Assets of the Ministry of Justice which had provided the New Year surprise gift packages for the children who, due to hospitalisation, would be spending the holidays away from home and their families. ‘We will not only continue this initiative of donating toys and other things which may bring joy to the children and put smiles on their faces, but also do everything that would benefit the entire healthcare system’, she emphasised.
