The Serbian Justice Minister Nela Kuburović met with the Russian Justice Minister Aleksandr Konovalov in St. Petersburg and discussed cooperation in judicial matters, as well as further advancement of the relations between the two ministries. In this bilateral meeting, the two ministers concurred that their ministries had made great efforts towards fighting extremism in the previous period, expressing satisfaction over the recently concluded agreements between the two countries’ prosecutor’s offices.

Minister Konovalov noted that brotherly relationships existed between the Serbian and the Russian people, which also needed to be nurtured by those holding judicial functions in the two countries. The Russian Minister expressed great satisfaction over the cooperation in the field of international legal assistance, finding it important to strive for improvement and a continuous advancement of cooperation even with such good relations existing. He thanked the Serbian delegation, headed by Minister Kuburović, for their participation in the prestigious law forum which counted over 4,000 participants.

The Serbian Justice Minister said that the basis for the cooperation with the Russian Federation was an agreement from 1962, a fact which itself provided another reason for having a new agreement in place. In addition to cooperation in criminal matters, Kuburović and Konovalov discussed cooperation in civil matters, especially that which existed between the two respective Public Bailiffs Chambers.

Minister Kuburović will be in an official visit to St. Petersburg from 16 May to 19 May, at the invitation of the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation to participate in the Eight International Judicial Forum.
