The Ministry of Justice has published the working draft of the amendments to the Constitution concerning the judiciary on its website (https://www.mpravde.gov.rs/sekcija/53/radne-verzije-propisa.php).

The working draft of the amendments to Serbia’s highest legal act is the result of a 6-month public debate which included six round tables in several Serbian cities organised by the Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the Office for Cooperation with the Civil Society. At those round tables, representatives of expert communities and other interested parties could share their views on the subject amendments.

The Ministry of Justice prepared the working draft in collaboration with James Hamilton, a former member and a permanent expert of the Venice Commission. The draft will be sent to the Venice Commission for an opinion. If a positive opinion is not obtained, the draft will not proceed to the next stage of the adoption procedure.

The Ministry of Justice emphasises that the working draft will be discussed at the next round of public debate to be organised by the Ministry. The Ministry hereby invites all interested parties to review the working draft and give their comments and opinions at the upcoming public debate.
