The reconstruction and refurbishment works on the building housing the Basic Court, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Misdemeanour Court in Prijepolje commenced today. The building was constructed in the 1960s without having undergone any type of reconstruction work since.

The commencement of the works ceremony was attended by the State Secretary to the Ministry of Justice Radomir Ilić who, on the occasion, said that the Ministry of Justice was devoting great attention to the strengthening of the judicial infrastructure which was very important to the solid functioning of the entire judiciary.

The works on the reconstruction and the refurbishment of over 1,300 square meters (net) are expected to last three months. The costs of the works shall amount to over 36 million dinars, including the VAT and shall be funded entirely from the State Budget.

The space inside the building (80 per cent of the office capacity) is used by the judicial organs, while the remaining 20 per cent is used by other institutions in Prijepolje. With the completion of the reconstruction and the refurbishment, all judicial organs will be integrated into a single unit and separated from all other entities, with one main entrance.

A part of the works will include the repair of all installations, façade and the roof, and the replacement of the joinery and the boilers. The original design, dimensions and structure of the facility will be entirely kept, with an added access for the disabled.

The contractor hired to perform the works is “Zlatibor-gradnja Beograd”
