Minister of Justice, Nikola Selaković, met today with the representatives of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (hereinafter referred to as  NALED), with whom he talked about the improvement of the legislative framework for purpose of combating gray economy and creating good investment environment in Serbia. 

NALED representatives pointed out that this organization is one of key interlocutors of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in defining regulatory priorities and legal solutions that are important for the economy. Those present at the meeting agreed that cooperation between NALED and all relevant ministries should be strong and intensive for purpose of improving business environment in Serbia.

One of agenda items was introduction of a public notary profession and advantages that this judicial profession brought to the economic sector. A discussion was also held on the Law on Enforcement and Security which is very important for the economy especially when it comes to the number of pending cases and issues which companies face when collecting receivables. When it comes to combating gray economy, NALED representatives pointed out that there is an expert group that is engaged in drafting the National Program for Combating Gray Economy.

In terms of economic crime, the Minister of Justice and NALED representatives agreed that prosecutors and judges need more training so that they would learn about the problems of entrepreneurs and their cases as much as possible, which would result in more efficient and faster fight against the gray economy. 

Apart from Minister Selaković, the meeting was also attended by NALED Executive Director Violeta Jovnović, Director of the Regulatory Reform Program Jelena Bojanović, and a legal advisor for relations with the economy Dragana Ilić, as well as a member of NALED Board of Directors and CEO of “Meser Tehnogas” Ernst Bode.
