’’Republic of Serbia will continue to be a reliable partner for the EU, and will give the greatest effort to overcome the challenges that all candidate countries are facing during the accession negotations’’, said Minster of Justice Nikola Selaković today on the occasion of opening the EU-Western Balkans Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Forum which was held in the Palace of Serbia.

Minister Selaković also sad that 2014 was marked by preparations for the opening of Chapters 23 and 24 and that Serbia had a lot of help from all neighbors in the region.

’’The help that we received from european countries made our efficient realisation much easier. We had help during the screaning phase and also during the actuall writting of action plans for the negotations in these two chapters’’, said Minister Selaković. He also pointed out that timely and precise directives as well as sugestions given by the European Comission were of great benefit for the realization of these tasks.

’’Our Chapter 23 Negotation Team gave the second Draft of the action plan for this chapter to the European Comission a week ago’’, said Selaković and expressed his hope that this Draft will be accepted as soon as possible.

Minister Selaković highlighted that Serbia will give its best to transfer all knowledge and experience to our neighbor countries as they are also expected to make some steps that we already took in the period that is behind us.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nebojša Stefanović, pointed out on this occasion that a successful fight against organized crime in Serbia contribute not only to serenity of our citizens, but also to serenity and peacefulness of a bigger population in the EU. He also said that the main goal for the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to finish the proces of harmonizationing the normes and laws with the ones in the EU untill 2018 as this will grant citizens in Serbia a better and safer life.

Besides Minister Selaković and Minister Stefanović, the Forum was opened by Italian Minister of Internal Affairs Angelino Alfano and Italian Minister of Justice Andrea Orland.
