“The implementation of justice in every democratic state is one of the key activities of judiciary, public prosecutor organization, but also the Ministries of Justice and Interior”,  said today the Minister of Justice, Nikola Selaković, on the occasion of signing the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the United States of America concerning the control of narcotics and implementation of laws, organized in the Palace of Serbia.

Selaković assessed that the cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and their American colleagues is most successful , and that the Agreement signed today means enormous help when prosecutor investigation is in question, and an important segment in the field of criminal judiciary.

“The implementation of the Agreement through five separate projects will contribute to the improvement of most important segments in part of criminal justice concerning the field of enforcement of the Criminal Procedure Code, strengthening  judicial professions, training public authorities in the enforcement of the Code, but also providing conditions in higher courts and public prosecution service that will enable ever more efficient conducting of preparatory criminal proceedings and criminal proceedings“, emphasized Selaković. Furthermore, he added that Serbia is aware that it will create conditions for the successful fight against organized crime and corruption only by investing in prosecution  authorities.

Selaković emphasized that signing of the Agreement creates conditions for considerable increase of the   criminal justice and prosecution levels, and improvement of the fight against organized crime and corruption in every single aspect.

 

The Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the United States of America on the control of narcotics and implementation of laws was signed by H.E. Ambassador of the United States in Belgrade, Michael Kirby, Minister of Interior, Nebojša Stefanović, and Minister of Justice, Nikola Selaković.
