The Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the German Organization for International Cooperation GIZ, Legal and Judicial Reform Program in Serbia, organized the workshops for newly appointed public notaries from 27 to 29 August 2014.

The workshop program was composed according to suggestions of public notaries, to meet their needs as much as possible, particularly in the light of taking over public notary duties in the early days of operation of their respective offices.  

Experts from the region, such as outstanding notaries from Sarajevo and Macedonia,  Sefedin Suljević and Marjan Kocevski, Dean of the Law School in Zenica Prof. Dr Enes Bikić, President of the Chamber of Notaries of the Republic of Srpska Marinko Plavšić, and vice President of  the Chamber of Notaries of Montenegro Darko Ćurić shared their experiences in establishment of the notarial system in their respective countries.

Using practical presentations and interaction between participants and lecturers, the following topics were covered:  receiving clients in notaryʼs office, setting up the records, sequence of official actions, procedure of composing the most common public notary documents, procedure for authentication of signatures and copies, the role of public notaries in non-contentious procedures, contract execution, technique to produce public notary documents, entry into official registries, and keeping the records of documents.

As a part of continuous support to the establishment of the public notary system, the Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the German Organization for International Cooperation GIZ, will continue to run workshops and other forms of professional development and exchange of experiences for Serbian public notaries with other colleagues from the region.
