The role of the Chamber of Public Notaries for the future reputation of public notary offices will be exceptionally important in the future, since the Chamber will be responsible, in addition to the competent courts and Ministry of Justice, for quality control of public notaries operations, said today the Minister of Justice Nikola Selaković during the ceremonial part of the Founding Assembly of Public Notaries of Serbia held at the Parliament building of the Republic of Serbia.

Selaković  highlighted that the role of the Chamber of Public Notaries is visible in several other very important areas, such as enactment of regulation pertaining to the Chamber operations, enabling the proper work of notary office staff (public notary assistants and interns), as well as announcement of vacancies for new public notaries, their selection and appointment.

„Public notary is a supervisor of legal transactions in the state “, underlined  Selaković and invited all public notaries to do the best they can to elevate the level of legal transactions oversight substantially and improve the quality of these transactions as soon as they come into office on 1 September 2014.

Michael Falke, the head of the Legal and Judicial Reform Program in Serbia implemented by the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), said that public notaries in the Republic of Serbia have an opportunity to be pioneers in their profession. „Setting up the Chamber of Public Notaries is an important milestone for Serbia in the process of building a modern, efficient and predictable legal system in which public notaries will play a major role“, said Falke and added that GIZ, i.e. the German Government, will keep on supporting reforms in Serbia.
