The Republic of Serbia with its Ministry of Justice, which is in addition to the judiciary and the fight against corruption also in charge of cooperation with churches and religious communities, is ready to transfer and share all of its good and positive experiences, laws and regulations concerning the relations between the church and state with the competent authorities of Montenegro, Minister of Justice Nikola Selaković said today during his visit to Cetinje, after the meeting with His Grace Bishop of Budimlje and Nikšić Mr. Joanikije and representatives of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.

Selaković pointed out that the relations between the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro are increasingly getting better and more developed, and that in the Ministry that he leads special attention is paid to the relations with the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Eparchy of Budimlje and Nikšić.

It is my particular pleasure today to have the opportunity to visit Cetinje, the resting place of some of the most sacred Christian Orthodox historical figures, including great rulers, bishops, military leaders, and great legislators, Selaković said. He added that he was honoured to have had the opportunity as the minister of justice to pay homage to the relics of Saint Peter of Cetinje (Peter I Njegos), who as bishop and ruler, military leader, and especially as a legislator, managed to carry over the spirit of Montenegrin sovereignty and statehood from the middle ages to the new age.

The Bishop of Budimlje and Nikšić Mr. Joanikije welcomed the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro and expressed his satisfaction and confidence that the good relations between the two governments would be even better in the years to come.

During his visit to Cetinje, Minister Selaković laid a wreath at the tomb of King Nikola.
