Nela Kuburovic, the Justice Minister, stated in Nis that Hungary would assist Serbia in its EU-integration process, including with the upcoming changes to the Serbian Constitution. Laszlo Troscaniy, the Hungarian Justice Minister, said that cooperation between the two countries needed to be strengthened. “Constitutional changes are ahead of us, and we shall have their support in knowing which direction to take in changing the Serbian Constitution”, Kuburovic told Tanjug.
After the bilateral meeting with Mr. Troscaniy, Kuburovic explained that the two ministers had an excellent cooperation which they intended to continue. "We already have a cooperation protocol and we are, first and foremost, expecting the Hungarian Ministry of Justice to assist Serbia in its EU-integration process in terms of it fulfilling its Chapter 23 Action Plan obligations", Kuburovic declared.
According to her, Mr. Troscaniy, the Hungarian Minister, expressed willingness to cooperate and assist in several matters. “We have learned that they, too, were expecting amendments to be made to the Civil Dispute Proceedings Act and that efforts had to be made towards the improvement of the courts’ efficiency and the shortening the duration of court proceedings – a problem also faced by Serbia. For that reason, this will be a valuable experience”, Kuburovic stated.
Troscaniy told Tanjug confirmed that the two ministers’ cooperation had been excellent since it had been established two years prior, with many meetings having had taken place in the meantime. "We have to strengthen this cooperation", he said, adding that during their meeting he familiarised Kuburovic with the new legal regulation and the penalty system in Hungary. He said that the Hungarian Government and Ministry were prepared to provide all information about the new legislation. "Serbia has our absolute support to joining the EU and we wish to help. Our relationship is very strong", Troscaniy stressed.
