Only in the last two years, the Ministry of Justice renovated 29 facilities throughout Serbia for the needs of judicial authorities, i.e. over 60,000 m3 that accommodate courts and public prosecutor's offices. In 2014, works were conducted in 29 facilities, in 2015 in 49 facilities, and the largest investments have been made in 2016, including the Palace of Justice in Belgrade.

With the construction of new and adaptation of the existing buildings, the number of courtrooms has increased and this enabled more frequent scheduling of hearings and cost optimisation by providing a single location for the accommodation of the largest authorities.

During the term of office of Minister of Justice Nikola Selaković, works were conducted in the facilities accommodating courts and public prosecutor's offices, as well as institutions for the execution of criminal sanctions. The following buildings underwent renovation, reconstruction and adaptation: the First Basic Court in Belgrade, Basic Courts in Leskovac, Pirot, Sjenica, Tutin, Petrovac na Mlavi, Trstenik, Vranje, Mladenovac, Požarevac, and Čačak. These works also include Magistrate Courts in Belgrade, Šabac and Raška, and the Appellate Court in Belgrade, and the building used by judicial authorities in Belgrade in Katanićeva Street No. 15 was adapted for the needs of the Second Basic Court, Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office, Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office, State Prosecutorial Council and Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade.

Currently, an entirely new building is being built for the needs of the Magistrates and Commercial Court in Užice.

In terms of the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, major investments in terms of the plan for the revitalisation of facilities and increase in prison capacities were made in: Pavilion C in the Detention and Rehabilitation Center Niš, a new pavilion in the semi-open section in the District Prison Subotica, two blocks in each, the Central Prison and in the Specialised Prison Hospital in Belgrade, then in the Detention and Rehabilitation Center for Juveniles in Valjevo, the Detention and Rehabilitation Center Zabela, and construction of a new Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Pančevo has also commenced.

Currently, project and technical documentation for the construction of a new complex, a “closed-type prison”, is being developed in the District Prison Leskovac, Detention and Rehabilitation Center Sremska Mitrovica, and in the Detention and Rehabilitation Center Sremska Mitrovica in Požarevac – Zabela for three pavilions.
